.37kw up to 7.5kw

Lowara pumps are relatively common submersible pumps installed in Perth Water Bores. OS model motors range from .37kw to 4kw in single phase motors and .37 to 7.5kw in three phase versions.

Lowara domestic bore OS models are broadly divided into three types of submersible motors.

Lowara 3 phase submersible

3 phase pump motors are often evident from a wall mounted  non brand specific 415v DOL (Direct Online ) 3 phase starter with a red and green button.

A reticulation controller usual sends a 24v signal to the DOL to start the pump. These 3 phase DOL’s contain adjustable settings which should only be accessed by a licensed electrician. The DOL starter is generic and can be labelled with many brands,

Lowara single phase

Single phase 3 wire with start box. The most common version of Lowara in Perth is coupled to a single phase motor and the 240v control box is metal with an illuminated rocker switch on it.. Normally there will also be a 24v relay or contactor that accepts the 24v signal from the reticulation controller to start the pump.

It is not uncommon for the start capacitor inside a Lowara start box to rupture. Our electrician can quickly diagnose and replace. We carry most size start capacitors in our service van so replacements are fast and efficient.

Hidden in the roof

Sometimes we find the Lowara start box concealed in the roofspace by the installing electrician. Not considered a good idea by many. Very inconvenient if the capacitor ruptures or if the reset switch trips.

Lowara metal start boxes can also deteriorate in the Perth environment particularly near the coast.  If your bore control box is rusted or corroded consider an IP rated generic plastic replacement. Not available to fit all sizes so please enquire.

 

Single phase 2 wire with no start box The 2W versions do not have a dedicated start box and instead has a built-in capacitor and motor protection (2W = Two Wire). Two wire motors are 1.1kw or less.

Fusion Claims

Our electrician is qualified to certify submersible motors as fused or burnt out if they are potentially covered by an insurance fusion claim.
