Yes, we first got called to this Thornlie service job because the owner thought the submersible water bore was not working. Dave our electrician soon sorted that out. It turned out to actually be an operational problem with the very old reticulation controller not the bore. But we don’t just fix water bores…
In under 4 hours this Thornlie bore and retic system was ship shape again. All 5 solenoid valves replaced.
Reticulation problem
Before leaving Dave tested the reticulation systems operation, making sure it was up to the job for summer. Station 3 had an open circuit problem with the solenoid wiring and station 5 solenoid was failing mechanically on an intermittent basis. This meant the bore and retic was only working on 4 of the 5 stations all the time. That can be a real problem for the pump. Particularly if the pump runs with nowhere for the water to flow. Luckily the homeowner was aware of the reticulation problem and had only been using the system manually.

Our retic service technician Jack was soon on the job. Our client asked us to replace all five solenoid valves as they were over 17 years old and “had had a good run”. Jack located all five solenoid valves in quick time. It helps when you have a state of the art cable locating wand.
All valves were then replaced. He used slip-fix telescopic couplings where required to minimise disruptive digging . The bore and retic system were then tested for one last time and given a clean bill of health. This Thornlie bore and retic is ready for many more years faithful service.
